Circumference, Area,Volume of a SpherE Cave Wave The Power of the Circle Circumference. 2 Pi R Click Here to Listen -- Once the audio clip starts, minimize it so you can see the words at the same time. Carol's Comments: This ditty becomes invaluable for memorizing three often used formulas. In the beginning, just have your student recite this. But eventually, to add another element to the learning, have them write C-A-V in a vertical line as they proceed through the rhyme. Then when they say, "circumference" they should point to the "C". When they say "Area" -- point to the "A" and of course "volume" has them pointing finally to the "V". Then when they get to the formula's themselves, they just write them in beside their corresponding letter. 2 Pi R goes beside Circumference Pi R-Squared goes beside Area and 4/3 Pi R-cubed goes beside Volume
Like in many of our ditties, the last set of lines (in this case starting with the word "Circumference" can be used as the occasional review, making the first part of the rhyme unnecessary.) |
