Carol's Comments: This ditty connects our third President with this famous exploration team, making another date connection of value. The purpose of their trip is made clear, but what's neat is that the purchase from France happened in the previous year of 1803. So once you're kids have memorized this they know when Jefferson was President, when Lewis and Clark set out on their trip and when the Louisiana Purchase was...well, purchased!
