Welcome to the Ditty Page! Quick...finish this sentence. "In fourteen hundred and ninety-two..." I'm almost certain you thought "Columbus sailed the ocean blue." That's because rhythmical language is a powerful learning tool. We can not shake things we learned as rhythms or poems. It took me years to realize the value in this tool, but once I caught the "ditty bug" I found I was creating useful rhymes for every subject being studied. And just as quickly, my kids were putting useful things to memory. It was easy. It was fast. And it was so very effective. Ditties work best when used daily. Have your kids do a few ditties every morning. We call this our daily "recitation exercises". Don't worry about the ditties being perfect or even right. The key is in repetition. Think how many times you heard the Pledge of Allegiance. You may have mumbled through the first few weeks, but eventually, you could say it in your sleep. Repeat your chosen ditties daily for several weeks to effortlessly cement them in the minds of your children. Then every few months, do a quick review. This page is where you will find the audio for the ditties found in Carol's The Big What Now Book of Learning Styles. If you are looking for a particular ditty you've seen referenced in the book, check the list below. But also, keep coming back to see our community created list of ditties. It will be constantly be growing as people send in ditties they've found or created. In addition, any time Carol creates a new ditty, it will show up here as well. If you've come here just because you were surfing the site and don't know about Carol's newest book, find out more about Carol's books by clicking here.
